Give your time to support police dogs in Warwickshire |
||
|
There is still time to get involved by sending in your application to be a part of our new Animal Welfare Scheme. You can help safeguard the wellbeing of police dogs in Warwickshire, making sure they receive the care, respect and ethical training they deserve. Carrying out welfare checks, you will see how police dogs are housed, trained and transported. A short report is then written about the observations you have made, which will help us confirm every police dog is cared for properly. Applicants need to be 18 or over and live, work or study in Warwickshire. The Dogs Trust is supporting the scheme and will provide full training to volunteers, covering everything you need to know during visits. There is no physical contact with the dogs. All dogs are vaccinated and volunteers will take part in a six-month probation period. Most visits will take place at Warwickshire Police Headquarters in Leek Wootton. They will be arranged in advance and will happen a few times across the year. Volunteers will need to make their own way to and from visits. As only a small number of volunteers are required, an informal interview process will take place to help us select those best suited to the role. If you would like to apply to become an Animal Welfare Scheme Volunteer, please visit our Animal Welfare Scheme page, where you can download and complete an application form. If you have any questions about the scheme, email the team: opcc@warwickshire.police.uk Please complete your application form and send to us by midday on Tuesday 31 March 2026.
